As a former nurse, medical terminology was the foundation of my nursing practice. Now, the same concept applies to my blogging business.

However, it isn’t enough to learn “blogging vocabulary?”

Understanding how blogging terms interconnect and comprehending its processes ensures you use them to their full potential. Implementing effective blogging strategies requires the use and combination of multiple blogging concepts.

For instance, learning the definition of email marketing won’t do you much good if you don’t also learn about opt-ins (and how to create a great one), sales funnels (and how to implement one), and what the best email marketing companies for bloggers are.

But, first things first….

Is there such thing as blogging Vocabulary?

Well, the truth is… blogging vocabulary isn’t just about blogging. Successful and profitable blogging consist of a collection of terms that go far beyond blogging itself.

Blogging vocabulary steps into other areas, which without their ability to merge, blogging wouldn’t be able to flourish or even exist.

Some of those areas include coding, technology, monetization, business, marketing, social media, and graphic design.

So, let’s take a closer look…

Code and Technology Vocabulary 

One of the hardest things for me throughout my blogging journey was learning code. I am far from an expert in coding. However, learning the basics has allowed me to have more control over some aspects of my blog, such as my website design.

Code is computer language. It is what goes on behind the scenes in computing, resulting the what you see in the “front-end” when you use your computer.

Everything in computing is created with coding. Facebook, phone apps, your favorite websites, your blog, it all works with code.

Although it isn’t necessary to become a coding expert, learning coding terminology and basic computer codes will help make a world of a difference.

Monetization Vocabulary and Strategies

People often question whether it’s possible to make money blogging or if it’s simply a hobby. Well, depending on how you approach it, blogging can, in fact, be a powerful money-maker.

Blogging can not only provide you with a small extra income, but it can turn into a full-blown business for those who pursue it full-force.

Learning and understanding all of the blogging monetization concepts  and and their strategies can definitely set you up for monetary success.

But again, making money from your blog would be almost impossible if you don’t learn and implement important blogging terms related to monitazation.

Anyone who plans on running a successful and profitable blog will definitely be learning about different types of marketing.

Marketing is the process by which you attract and convince potential clients/ customers as to why they should invest in your products or services.

Whether it is selling your own ebooks and ecourses or putting affiliate links in your weekly newsletters, marketing is working behind the scenes.

Two common and essential marketing processes in blogging are affiliate marketing and email marketing.

Not only are they extremely important in running a successful and profitable blog but they both entail a great amount of strategy and understanding.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO, is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.

Learning SEO terminology as it relates to blogging and how to apply it to your blog is the single best investment of your time and money.

Knowing what to do in order to help your content rank in the first page of Google Search results is the ultimate goal for a successful blog.

Social Media Terminology

Social media comes with its set of benefits for bloggers. So, it is a no-brainier that learning social media lingo as it pertains to blogging is a smart idea.

However, not all social media platforms are created equal when it comes to blogging. In  fact, Pinterest, is the only other source of high traffic to a lot of bloggers (including myself) besides Google.

With that said, figuring out how to use Pinterest, plus it’s tips and tricks, doesn’t come easy.

I can promise you I won’t be designing the next Kardashian website anytime soon!

However, this I can tell you. The graphic design skills I’ve acquired throughout my blogging journey have allowed me to customize my blog to my liking.

In addition, graphic design abilities come in handy when creating images for my social media handles (especially Pinterest Pins). Of course, thanks to tools such as Canva, graphic design can be a breeze.
